On 19 September 2024, Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company, serving as the Lead and a key member of the Steering Committee for the Small Pelagic Purse Seine Fisheries – Karnataka State Fishery Improvement Project (FIP), became a corporate member of the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA). This milestone reflects the company’s strong commitment to advancing responsible and sustainable seafood practices both regionally and globally.
The Global Seafood Alliance promotes responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy, and demonstration, working closely with industry partners, scientists, and policymakers to strengthen environmental stewardship and supply chain transparency. By joining GSA, Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company gains access to global expertise, best practices, and collaborative initiatives that support sustainable fisheries management and responsible seafood production.
GSA’s work is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all United Nations member states, which set out a 15-year agenda to achieve sustainable development across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Membership in GSA enables Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company to contribute actively toward these goals, reinforcing its leadership role in promoting sustainability, traceability, and long-term resilience within the Karnataka State FIP and the broader seafood sector.
