Karnataka State FIP Wins Best Stall Award at CMFRI Foundation Day

On 01 February 2025, the Karnataka State Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) proudly showcased its pioneering work on the exploration of mesopelagic fish resources during the CMFRI Foundation Day celebrations held in Kochi. The event provided an excellent platform for the FIP team to present their ongoing research, field surveys, and early findings related to mesopelagic fish, a promising yet underexplored marine resource with significant potential for sustainable utilization.

The exhibition stall highlighted key aspects of the project, including details of the exploratory expeditions, species diversity identified so far, and the scientific collaborations established with institutions such as CMFRI and CIFT. Visitors, including scientists, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, gained insights into the importance of mesopelagic ecosystems and the role of the Karnataka State FIP in promoting responsible and research-driven fisheries development. The stall attracted substantial attention for its clarity, depth of information, and innovative approach.

In recognition of its impactful presentation and contribution to advancing marine research, the Karnataka State FIP was honored with the award for the best stall at the event. This achievement not only reflects the dedication of the FIP team but also reinforces the importance of continued exploration and scientific study of mesopelagic species. The recognition serves as motivation for the project to further strengthen its sustainability initiatives and collaborative efforts within the fisheries sector.
