On 18 December 2024, Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company, in collaboration with the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), conducted a follow-up meeting at the Yashaswi Pithrody office. The meeting focused on advancing discussions around the exploration and survey of mesopelagic fish, aiming to evaluate the potential of this deep-water resource while ensuring sustainable practices.
The session brought together a group of local fishermen, scientists, and technical experts to review previous findings and plan the next steps for the mesopelagic fish survey. Participants discussed survey methodologies, data collection approaches, and best practices for responsible harvesting, emphasizing the importance of integrating scientific research with the practical knowledge of fishing communities.
This follow-up meeting reinforced the commitment of Yashaswi and CMFRI to sustainable fisheries development and community engagement. By fostering collaboration between researchers and fishermen, the initiative aims to generate valuable insights into mesopelagic fish populations, support informed management decisions, and promote responsible utilization of this emerging marine resource.
