On 28 December 2023, Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) to strengthen technical collaboration under the Karnataka State Fishery Improvement Project (FIP). The signing ceremony, held at Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bangalore, marked a significant step toward enhancing scientific support and capacity-building for the state’s small pelagic purse seine fishery.
The MoU was formally handed over by Shri Mankal S. Vaidya, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying of Karnataka, to Shri Sadhu Salian, Managing Partner of Yashaswi Fish Meal and Oil Company. This symbolic exchange emphasized the government’s commitment to partnering with industry and academic institutions to promote sustainable fishery practices and ensure long-term ecological balance in Karnataka’s marine sector.
The event was attended by Shri Dinesh Kumar Kaller, Director of the Department of Fisheries, Government of Karnataka, along with other officials from the fisheries department and representatives from KVAFSU. Their participation highlighted the importance of collaborative governance and expert guidance in driving the FIP forward. This partnership aims to integrate advanced research, technical expertise, and on-ground implementation, thereby supporting continuous improvement across the fishery value chain.
