As an organization committed to sustainability, innovation, and community empowerment, our participation in this event aligned strongly with our mission to promote responsible fisheries practices, technological advancements, and youth engagement in the blue economy. The event opened with inspiring messages from leaders of the Karnataka fisheries sector, setting a tone of collective responsibility and forward-looking vision for the future of India’s fisheries.

The Ideathon 2025, themed “Innovating for a Sustainable Blue Future,” provided a dynamic platform for students, innovators, and entrepreneurs to explore creative solutions to challenges within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. Our team was particularly proud to witness the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation of students who showcased innovative thinking across diverse problem areas. The technical sessions featured renowned speakers, including Mr. K.V. Prakash, who delivered insights on nature-inspired sustainable technologies, and Dr. Safeena M.P., who addressed crucial themes related to biosecurity, fish health management, and entrepreneurial opportunities in Indian aquaculture. These knowledge-sharing sessions enriched participants’ understanding of emerging trends, responsible practices, and the future technological pathways needed to strengthen the fisheries sector.

Representing Small Pelagic Purse Seine Fisheries – Karnataka State FIP, Mr. Uday Kumar Salian, one of the Guests of Honour, highlighted the importance of collaborative industry–academia partnerships in enhancing fisheries governance, fisher livelihoods, and sustainable marine resource utilization. Our organisation’s involvement underscored our commitment to supporting the next generation of fisheries professionals and fostering eco-innovations aligned with global sustainability frameworks. The programme successfully strengthened connections among researchers, industry stakeholders, and students, while reinforcing the shared vision of building a resilient and sustainable blue economy for Karnataka and beyond.
