Small Pelagic Purse Seine Fisheries (Karnataka State FIP) was proud to extend its support to the College of Fisheries, Mangalore, for the successful conduct of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp held from 09 October 2025 to 15 October 2025. As part of our commitment to promoting sustainable fisheries and community development, we collaborated with the college to provide students with practical exposure and field-based learning opportunities. With our contribution, various impactful activities were carried out, including a Malpe Harbour cleanliness drive aimed at enhancing the hygiene and operational environment of the harbour. We also facilitated awareness programmes for fishermen, focusing on sustainability, safety, and best practices within the fishing sector. Furthermore, through our coordination, students gained valuable insights into the operations of fishing vessels, net repairing techniques, and the functioning of fish and fishery product manufacturing facilities, along with multiple industrial visits relevant to the fisheries value chain. This collaborative initiative not only strengthened the technical knowledge of the students but also supported their overall development in line with the NSS vision of service—“Not Me But You.”
