Karnataka Stakeholder Meeting & Mou Signing Ceremony

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) in Karnataka held a Stakeholder Meeting and MOU Signing Ceremony at the Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn in Bengaluru, India. The event brought together key participants from various sectors of the fishing industry, including government officials, academic experts, and private sector representatives.
In particular, the Department of Fisheries, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), and the College of Fisheries, Mangalore, demonstrated strong cooperation and support for the FIP initiative.

The meeting featured a comprehensive presentation of the FIP’s objectives, progress, and strategic action plans by Dr. Nimnual Piewthongngam, FIP Project Leader in Karnataka, along with contributions from other prominent speakers such as Mr. Kalai Selvan and Ms. Pakawan Talawat. Stakeholders engaged in fruitful discussions on sustainable fishery practices and emphasized the importance of improving traceability and accountability within the value chain.
The meeting concluded with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony, marking a commitment to advancing sustainable fisheries in Karnataka.
